Friday

I had a post lined up for today, but then this Newtown, CT shooting happened and it seemed trivial.

For now, since all I’ve been reading about on Facebook and Twitter are posts regarding gun control, I’ll just say this:

Advocating for gun control as a preventative measure for stuff like this is akin to chopping off a branch on a tree that’s sick down to its roots. The real problem is that we suck as a society. Through the magic of alcohol, drugs, processed food, shit television and movies, and video games, we’ve created three or four generations of mind-erased quasi-humanoids who don’t possess enough innate intelligence to place any value whatsoever on human life.

They’re too stupid to understand what death and killing even are. They’re here, and then they’re gone, and there’s no human connection between their spinal cord, their brain, and the rest of society.

Taking away their guns may mitigate some shit, but it won’t solve the problem we’ve created. I realize this is a rather conservative—even red state—point of view, but the more I see of the world, the more I realize that, for the most part, it’s simply an overcrowded, overpopulated cesspool filled with people who’d think nothing of firing a hail of bullets into a crowd of kids.
